Women in conservation technology!

I am thrilled to have been part of an insightful panel discussion on gender equality in conservation, organised by SHE Changes Climate! 🌍 It was an honour to join forces with WILDLABS Community's Christine Mwaniki, Sherril Masudi and Esther Githinji to explore ways to bridge the gender gap in this critical field. We delved into the challenges faced by women in conservation and shared strategies for fostering inclusivity and empowerment. It was truly inspiring to meet and learn from trailblazing icons paving the way for a more inclusive future in environmental conservation. 🌍💪#WomenInConservationTechnology #GenderEquality #Conservation #WomenInSTEM #SheChangesClimate

Restoration! Empowering Our Community: Combatting Land Degradation Together!

In a world where environmental challenges are becoming increasingly urgent, community engagement is crucial in safeguarding our planet's future. Recently, Enarau community from Maasai Mara came together for a vital meeting to learn the causes and threats of land degradation, understand the significance of restoration efforts, and initiate collaborative research endeavours. At the heart of our meeting was a call to action for our community members to actively engage in conservation efforts and support research initiatives to understand and address land degradation. Together, we can make a tangible difference in safeguarding our natural heritage for future generations. w3-hide-small

ICCB2023! Reflecting on a Remarkable Experience at the International Conference for Conservation Biology!

The International Conference for Conservation Biology was a truly fabulous event that left a lasting impression on me. Gathering alongside passionate conservationists and researchers from around the globe, I had the privilege to contribute, learn, and forge valuable connections in the realm of biodiversity conservation. During the conference, I had the honour of presenting the results of my past work with BirdLife International. This project, which was funded by the Conservation Leadership Programme, allowed me to delve deep into the intricate world of avian conservation. Sharing my findings in a symposium moderated by Rowan Martin of the World Parrot Trust was an enriching experience, offering me the opportunity to engage with fellow experts and enthusiasts in the field. Furthermore, I had the pleasure of moderating one of the sessions during the congress. Facilitating discussions, exchanging insights, and guiding conversations among esteemed colleagues broadened my perspective and expanded my network within the conservation community. Here's to the future of conservation, and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead. Until we meet again at the next conference, let us remain steadfast in our dedication to protecting and preserving our natural world.

AGGCA2023!Roaring Success: Reflecting on the African Golden Cat Congress 2023 in Uganda

In the heart of the lush Ugandan wilderness, conservationists and researchers from across the globe gathered for the African Golden Cat Congress 2023. The African Golden Cat (Caracal aurata) has a narrow habitat range in the equatorial forest of Africa. This elusive cat embodies the allure of the wild. Despite its charismatic presence, it remains shrouded in mystery, with much of its behaviour and ecology still to be discovered. The African Golden Cat faces a myriad of threats to its survival, primarily stemming from habitat loss, fragmentation, and poaching. Against this backdrop of conservation challenges, the African Golden Cat Congress emerged as a beacon of hope and collaboration. Throughout the congress, delegates engaged in a myriad of discussions, presentations, and workshops delving into various aspects of African Golden Cat conservation. While the road ahead may be fraught with challenges, the congress serves as a testament to the power of collective action in safeguarding our planet's precious biodiversity.
